It is always best to have all of your regrouting supplies on hand and ready before you start your regrouting job.
You do not want to be ordering materials or running back and forth to the home improvement stores during your regrouting procedure.

The most critical tool needed for a proper regrouting procedure is an oscillating type tool to remove the existing grout. We recommend the Fein Multimaster tool for regrouting a shower. The Fein multimaster is a quality tool that is built to last and also many additional uses besides just regrouting a tile shower.
You should also purchase a diamond grout removal blade to remove the old grout. Do not attempt to purchase any off brand or carbide grout removal blades as these types of blades will not typically last through a single regrouting procedure. The Fein diamond grout removal blades are more expensive but they will last a long time typically lasting through 5-10 complete shower regrouting procedures.
A good quality utility knife is also an essential tool for regrouting a shower. The Lenox Gold utility knife has an ergonomic design and also has a quick release button. The quick release button will allow you to quickly change out the utility knife blades and quickly get back to work. The Lenox Gold also supplies platinum coated utility knife blades that last much longer than regular utility knife blades.

You will also need to purchase some 100% silicone caulk. Laticrete Latasil is the preferred choice of most grout restoration contractors. Typically 2 tubes of the Latasil caulk is enough to recaulk most tile showers. Latacrete Latasil caulk is the easiest to work with 100% silicone caulk. You can also use the GE Silicone II from Home Depot or Lowes but it is harder to work with and you will typically not get as good or even looking caulk lines. Additionally GE silicone II caulking comes in only white, almond and clear colors while Laticrete Latasil caulk comes in a variety of different colors.
